  • Fender Brace

I recently found a front fender brace for a 36/37 Big Twin with the band-aid looking things. What is this worth? approximately...

Upon close inspection, it turns out the fender looks to match the braces. The band-aid butterfly things have small holes on one side that match small dimples on the fender. So it appears I have a 36/37 front fender. So any ideas, ballpark, what this fender is worth?

How about a full description of the condition, even pictures, to be able to give a better idea. Butterfly mounts and braces on a junk fender is much different than a mint one!

I'll see if I can get pictures put up. I'll have to finagle someone to help, because I'm clueless.

Yup, get pics up, or it's useless. No one can guess a number for something they can't even see. "What's it worth?" You ask a kweshchin like that out-of-the-blue, you won't get much response.

A perfect 36-only fender (personally, I never heard of one on a '37. The butterflies didn't even last through the 1936 run) could pay for your winter vacation to Bermuda. If you hook up with someone restoring one of the ~2,000 36ELs built as a mid-year seasonal intro in March-April 1936. A piece of junk might be worth nuthin', honey!

You want to make something, use the butterflies you have as patterns, and knock out accurate reproductions. No one is making them. I'll buy four.

I'm posting a few pictures of the fender brace which I believe is a 36, possibly a 37.

That looks like a VL bracket. Hard to tell for sure by the angle of your photo.

                          VPH-D,
Based on very good condition you could likely get 50-100% more than a more common fender for the later models. I am not going to put a number on there as it varies day by day, buyer by buyer. Sources such as eBay have comparable prices to look at.
