  • Need Help to ID this Ammeter

This was in with a load of teens and twenties Harley and Indian parts. Any idea what it fits if it is in fact for a motorcycle.
    Thanks

What are the four letters to the left of the needle? Any letters or numbers of the back?

The letters to the left of the needle are HOYT. They were a big maker of electrical instruments and gauges. Indian contracted with Hoyt and used them on the Chief, Four, 741etc. They were also used by a number of car makers. Company is still in business today. Scientific instruments.

My "guess" based on the length of the studs is that this was an automotive ammeter. Studs look like they are long enough to go through a dashboard and that any kind of tank mounting would be a challenge. But if it works, there is little doubt in my mind it could be adapted to a bike with some creative engineering.

      Cheers,

      Sirhr
