  • Racing or Club Sweaters

    Hi list,

It's time I got a club sweater, i think the Dehen or Gasoline Cowboy is the only game in town. I was hoping to get some feedback on how they fit like " order one size bigger" or "go with summer weight". i usually take a XL and the AMCA is sold out of XLs. I am guessing the best place to buy is the HD museum but that rules out an Indian version.

Also there are two basic styles, the wide waist band and more of a straight cut. Any input would be appreciated.

There is a company that has been at several of the AMCA meets that does boots, jackets, sweaters, jodhpurs, puttees, breeks, gaiters and all manner of very cool arcane riding gear. They even have neat old pocket watches, etc. for the Edwardian crowd. Their boots are gorgeous.

This year, they were at both Jefferson (right in the middle of the field) and at Rhinebeck, near the entrance, along that first row to the left.

I spoke to them at both places and they are great folks.

I can't remember their name, but I thought it was Buffalo something. My better half has their card because I expect something under the tree from them this Christmas... just 'sayin.

Tonite, I'll find the name and post. They are great AMCA supporters and worth a look for any of that sort of neat old riding gear.

    Cheers,

    Sirhr

I bought a Harley style from Liberty Motor Wear add .com to search. They fit snug.

I do like the Maroon Sweater with the white stripes from Liberty. No embroidery or patches though. I suppose I could just buy what I wanted and have it sewn on.

The thing about these guys is I'm not sure what they offer. It's not really a catalog site it's just a blog and they state they are not offering wool sweaters because of a big wool shortage.

BTW I did a google search on wool shortages and that does indeed seem to be very real.

Mike Merling at Golden Age is a great AMCA supporter. I see him at several meets each year. He always donates to the Silent Auction at our Wauseon meet. High quality stuff at a fair price. Good luck, Fred.
