Day 7 update now posted at http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/ind...t01returnid=97

I don't have new points standings yet, but tomorrow's the rest day in Sturgis, so I'll have time to to lay out all of the contenders as the Cannonball goes into its second week.

Beautiful day today, with a gorgeous ride through the Badlands and Black Hills, and even a rest stop at Mount Rushmore.

      Bill Wood

The timing isn't real good for me, but I'm gonna try to get over to Burns myself. Be on my blue Panhead.

That was a nice build up in Bill Wood's last report about the coming crossing of the mountains by these old machines. It will be fascinating to see how well the single-speed bikes meet these challenging conditions.

How many participants in this Cannonball don't have their own personal support vehicle and staff? That is, are any of them going it alone with just their bike and what they can carry?

As Bill Harley said to Squib and the boys in the 1920s: "Take anything you want; so long as you can fit it all on your motorcycles."

Folks, I'm sorry to report that Bill Wood has had a family emergency that will force him to fly back East to be with his family early Sunday morning. We encourage everyone to continue to monitor the event by viewing the Cannonball's official website as well as using your computer's search engine for 2012 motorcycle cannonball run to gather info (including local media coverage as well). We all wish continued good luck to the competitors, and our thoughts and prayers are with Bill and his family.---Greg Harrison, the Antique Motorcycle Magazine.

I'm sorry to hear that Bill had to leave the Cannonball. My thoughts are with him and his family. I looked forward to his daily reports.

There are some great photos here... https://www.facebook.com/harley-davi...type=1&theater I think Dave Kafton's smile says it all.

Lot's of good stuff on the Cannonball site too, expecially the riders blogs. Heading out to see em, Tuesday at o dark thirty. Going to try and have fun Cory, think I can't help but have fun. Once in with that group, just another Cannonbal groupie :-)Loooking forward to it for sure, kind of funny - Tom Mcbride is just a city over and I have never ment him, talked on the phone and e mails. But this will be the first time I hope to meet him face to face, pretty cool, also George Yarocki - looking forward to that too!

First off....Best wishes to Bill and family.
Second.....Is there anyone who can take his place on reporting each day? It's like going cold turkey without a daily report!

They haven't had cell service (or internet) for 2 days, so reports are a little behind right now.
