I guess us spectators need to stick together then. I'm gonna follow Bill Wood! I'll be meeting up with the cannanball riders in Anamosa at the Museum. And then continue on to spirit lake over night. I guess there is a meet and greet with the riders from 4:30-6:30 at the museum. but I've already been told that The dinner is by reservation only for the riders and their crews. I guess it's MacDonalds for me that night.AMCA 26656

Day one coverage up. 66 bikes actually started. 54 got to the first stop without any penalties.
Sorry, no pictures from today, but I should have some starting tomorrow.

Cannonball day 2
Well I left the house at 4 am this morning and I made it down to catch them coming up from Wellsboro the lone sidecar rig from Australia may be down for a bit with clutch issues.
Also they are going straight into a severe storm that's coming from the south west while heading back I saw a fair amount that found shelter from the strong wind and down pours of rain when I left home this morning it was already raining and I could see lightning in the distance north of me and strong wind gusts

Let's all wish them a safe journeyChuck

Thanks for the report Chuck. That storm will just become fodder for some good stories. Lonnie has reported the first results for Day 1 on his website... http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/..._Stage_1-1.pdfCory Othen

What a tough day--320 miles, heavy rain, twisty roads in Pennsylvania, then two (yes two) complete freeway closures trying to get through the Cleveland area. The sweep trucks finally rolled into the hotel parking lot about 9 p.m., and we're all just happy it's over.
The Day Two coverage should appear magically very soon in the News area of the website: http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/index.php?page=news

Thanks Bill, can't wait. Don't know about the rest of you guys, but this stuff really gits me. Like nothing else so far ever with the antiques. Been thinking about em all day, day dreaming, wondering what their going through, how their machines are running. Man this is great fun and I am thousands of miles away and only envolved through just the interest in the event. I hope I can ride out and watch them go by too as some of you have, I did the same on the first one - great fun :-) Good luck guys!!!

From what I understand it is not the DATE of manufacture, it is the YEAR of the model. Those '29 Hendersons were introduced as '29 models perhaps built as early as mid '28. The design themn never changed through the demise. The VL was a NEW design touted as a '30 model, never intended as a '29 model. But since the event is already underway I believe it is a moot point! Perhaps the fact that it is also Henderson"s 100 year anniversary swayed the decision.
