Back in 1982 my dad and I went north to Minnesota to look at a Coke cooler. Well we came home with the cooler and a 1912 Indian. With a bit of tinkering my dad had it running, and managed to burn his leg as well. In 83 he joined the AMCA and took the bike apart. Since then he has gotten Parkinson's disease and underwent brain surgery last year. Now my brother and I along with his help are going to try to finish the restoration that he started so long ago. Needless to say we have our work cut out for us. At this point we have most of the nickel plating done and the tins are ready for paint. We would love to share our journey if there is any interest and would certainly welcome the help we will no doubt need during the resto. Our current issue is what to do about the cylinders? My dad said originally they used a plating process that has since gone the way of the Dodo bird. I have pics to share as well if anyone wants to take a look.

Nickle plating on the cylinders/heads is no biggie. Get your broken fins fixed first, if there are any, then you are ready for plating , and then cylinder bore finishing. If you have any problem with sources contact us direct at tfaber@fabercycle.com and we'll help you out.
The time to finish is now, while your Dad can enjoy the process, and later the finished product with you guys.

Love to see the project. Have several old Indians of that era and will assist with contacts for missing parts (if there are any) There are several good guys out there handling repop parts if you can't source out the original. 1912 is a wonderful year and the twins are legendary.Ross

Yes, by all means please post up pictures and ask all kinds of questions as I am sure someone on this form can answer them. Been having a local shop do all my plating and very pleased with there work. Most of them ride so they understand what needs to be done with the cylinders. Good luck!20scout

Man you're almost there. Get that engine together then do a mock up. Tear down and paint .Put back together. That is one nice looking set of parts assembled there. If time is on your side,then the hard part is done. Good luck and we'll be here for help along the way.Ross
