  • The Enthusiast magazine from 1959

Hi Guys, i just found a picture of my 1959 duo with sidecar in the August 1959 Enthusiast magazine. Anyone have any idea if its possible to find the old negative so i can make an actual picture?

Show us picture of it. I’ve got stacks of some orig. pictures that folks sent the factory to have put in the enthusiast.

Hi There, i actually found the original owner and she told me there was a picture of their bike taken back in 59 but she had no idea if it ever made it anywhere or in a magazine. I just thought the 1st place was the Enthusiast and over the last almost 2 years i have collected the from 59. Not so easy to find all of them but just 2 weeks ago i bought a lot that had the last 2 issue's i needed, and there it was, on the last page of the last magazine i needed to look in. I sent it to the original owners and they could not believe that i found it. This was the first time they ever saw it in over 50 years. I have a slide show i can send you if you like telling the whole story. I will say, it is a great, once in a lifetime story

You won’t really find a lot in the way of negatives. Loyal enthusiasts would donate hard copies of their pictures to the factory for the magazine. After they got published the Factory had no more use for them so they were sold off along with obsolete, military & service parts & whatever else they didn’t need. Harry Molenaar bought tons of surplus parts & on occasion even sold parts back to H-D. He received the pictures mentioned in a parts deal and later they were given to me.

I was just thinking that whoever took that picture back in 59 worked for a company and whatever company that was, should have the negative or the original picture. From what the owner told me, she knew it was a company taking the picture but they never found out who it was. I know its a long shot to take it further but maybe i will get lucky. I also have some great pic's that the original owner sent me which go great with the story. I'd love to show you if you like. I will be sending the whole story into the Enthusiast and i would think they would print it in an upcoming issue being i can show it was in their magazine 59 years ago and have many picture's along the way.

The easiest way is to open a free account at www.photobucket.com Then upload you photos there. After uploading cut the Photobucket IMG CODE and paste it here. You pictures will appear as this one.
