I'd go with 1912 as well Chris. That larger lettering has been brought up before. Could it have been an advertising tactic? Cool pic by the way, it's one I hadn't seen.

I agree, the larger tank logos are a very carefully hand-done studio retouches, just to make the name of the maker the focal point of the pictures. An adverising "convention" of the time, early 20th Century. Another was having everyone facing away from the camera, so as not to distract from the product being featured.Comment

made for HD by national, body is the same thru '17 if the web dude gets time I have donated scans of the 1915 sidecar catalog to the library shows the wheel hub as HD manufactureComment
