*Interesting unknown fact about the Ten Years After Woodstock recording, 'I'm Going Home'...by Helicopter~Haha. During the studio mixing of the song, the engineers realized that the microphone was turned off on TYA's Rick Lee's*(No relation to Alvin), drum kit. Mountain was recording, "Mountain Climbing' in the same studio, and they asked Mountain's drummer, Corky Laing if he could lay down the drum track for the Live Woodstock recording of, 'I'm Going Home'. Corky did the track, and he received a Gold Record for not even being at Woodstock~Hahaha

**When West & Laing first met up in England to form the Group, West Bruce & Laing. Corky Laing fell in love with Jack Bruce's Red Ferrari. The same one that was used in the movie, 'A Clockwork Orange'. Jack Bruce said, "Take it, it's yours". Corky made a Huge mistake, and regrettably ended up selling it to a Canadian Doctor only a few years later!

Wow! Thanks for that, JoJo! Their live stuff is amazing. I think West once said "Who cares who can play fast. Make every note count."

Years later, the original 3 members that recorded Funk 49, had a guest appearance on the Drew Carey show. Joe Walsh was a HOOT as a semi regular on that show!

WOW! Jojo's post with "Mountain" links brings back great memories of seeing them up close and live back in university days in Boulder, CO. There was a club in Denver called "The Family Dog" that was connected to San Francisco concert hall owner and promoter Bill Graham. He would book groups there who would also come up to Boulder and perform usually for free and often impromptu. 'Mountain' played along with 'Blues Image' outdoors on the University of Colorado campus one afternoon on the field near some dormitories where the CU Marching Band usually practiced and I'm glad I was there to see it. To me, 'Mountain's Corky Laing is the greatest rock and roll drummer ever (and that includes Ginger Baker.) He, Leslie West and Felix Papaliardi were an outstanding "Super Group" of the late 60's.

Here is a good one to check out -
Bobby Charles was recommended at a concert by Steve Dawson one evening this summer at a local hall where I often volunteer. Steve is an outstanding player and producer who is highly regarded both in Vancouver and in Nashville where he splits his time. Bobby Charles (a lesser known great in his day) is with several members of 'The Band' on this tune and the album it is on. (Skip the YouTube included commercial and enjoy....)
