Horn mounts under the tank between the frame rails, blocked by fender and wheel in the poster

Indeed, you are correct, probably late 28 or 29 4, my mistake!!. I saw the round bulge on the left side and thought it was the horn. Don't know how I missed the locking clutch pedal! So where IS the horn on the 4 in your poster? 28,29 and 30 Chief and Scout had the horn mounted on the left frame down tube. The 402 brochure shows it mounted right in front of the generator but it almost looks like this bike doesn't have the horn mounted. Tough to tell, but it looks like the cap of the DU-7 generator

How about the pin stripping on the fenders... Ace with the dual pin stripping; 402 has the single pin stripping. I'm looking at the ads you have posted above.

And doing a little digging in my literature I’m gonna say it’s a 29, in 28 (at least early 28) Indian was still selling the Indian Ace

    IMG_2106.jpeg IMG_2105.jpeg

But in 29 it was the 402 Indian Four

    IMG_2107.jpeg
I don’t know when that switch happened, maybe some were sold as 28s?

    Pretty sure it’s a 28 or 29 Four…..

You can see the screws on the front engine cover, the back side of the generator and the locking clutch pedal here.

And the oil pressure gauge and spark plugs here.

I'd call that a 28 or 29 Chief. Left side kicker, right hand shift, front brake and bullet headlight.

According to Wikipedia - During the late 1920s and until WWII broke out, DKW was both the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, as well as Europe's pioneer of front wheel drive automobiles with their successful 1931 and later DKW Front models, before the 1932 Adler Trumpf and the 1934 Citroen Traction Avant.
