I stand corrected, Bob!Originally posted by bobbyt View Post

With only file names, its hard to guess sometimes. My only pic of Blick has an "s"!

It must have lost an apostrophe?

Yeah ... that's Blick on his 21-inch Cyclone flat track racer. He was probably best known for his two laps on LA's highest roller-coaster riding a Henderson DeLuxe. You see Joe's name with and without an s in various race reports and other articles in the contemporary press. I've even seen it spelled with an a (Walters). He worked and rode for Excelsior mostly; I've never understood why he spent 1915 on HDs.Originally posted by T. Cotten View Post

The Walters local to me was a lot later, Bob!...Originally posted by bobbyt View Post

He was before my time, but I did have a conversation with his brother.

PS: Simpson McClure Lumber Co. drives me nuts. My early days were on McClure Avenue (named after a Union commander of an encampment stationed upon the "East Bluff" to contain Southern sympathy), and my family's enterprises that had me smelling sawdust early enough to know lumberyards were "suburban" at best by the late '50s.
A lumber yard on the East Bluff of Peoria in the first half of the last century would have me spellbound.
And why did that carpenter's bib make it all the way to the seashore?
