Where's the oil filter mentioned in the parts book? [/ATTACH]

No real need for an oil filter until Klaatu and Gort turn the power back on.

      • You caught that its a movie still, DropTop!

        The Day the Earth...... ?

The day the earth stood still again.jpg

Never having any of the hardware in hand, Folks,..

And only Eighties swap-meet memories of side-mount tanks sitting in milk crates, and our Spare Parts books that we all have to go by...

It appears the side-mount tanks had a cap, but not a filter until the DuoGlide era, when the lines should have been switched to flexible as well.

And that's only my guess. Those who know aren't sharing.

PS: I haven't really seen the movie. Did it start first kick?

PPS: You don't need to look down if you know what you're doing...

Yeah... it starts first kick... once the aliens turn the Earth's electrical flow back on. Until that time, the poor cop did a lot of kickin'

Still time for some down right cold rides in this world. This fella has some robust looking bits there.

What are we looking at here with this fine looking Indian?

Droptop's #694 image of the motor cop in traffic I noticed the front fender badge as MP DC. I seem to remember from that film that the space ship landed in Washington DC so I am assuming this is an authentic Metropolitan Police - District of Columbia panhead. I can't makeup the address on the apartment building in the background but it does resemble many along Connecticut and Massachusetts Avenues in DC.

P.S. That picture reminds me of my log in picture above my name, which is actually my grandmother and her cousin sitting on my great grandfathers J somewhere around Baltimore, where life was also a struggle for them growing up.
Yes that is a good observation. Kids often had to work but kids found a way to enjoy themselves mostly because they have yet developed the expectation of something different. Interesting you mention Baltimore and probably around the time this photo was taken was a big migration destination between the 1920 and 1960. Baltimore became a job rich environment as a port as well as a major steel manufacturing and auto assembly hub as well as many other industries. HaHa my father never made the trip and kept working in the coal mines of West Virginia until WWII in 1942 as a 28 YO he enlisted. Baltimore was tough before but after all those industries left they really have not recovered.

HaHa but only flat on one side I hear. You often see old motorcycle tires less than full of air. I guess there could be a lot of reasons

                              • That Indian with the disc covers on the wheels looks to have UK plates, and the KN series ran August 1917 through July 1920.
