Originally posted by badger34With Eric's info it took me an hour this evening to find the story behind these photos. The three photos were taken on Dec 5th 1931 by an insurance company photographer, their client while driving his auto had been struck in the side of his vehicle by the motorcyclist on Dec 1st. The young motorcyclist a 24 year old student who was a New York native passed the next day Dec 2nd of basal skull fracture after being thrown 30' from the cycle. I located newspaper coverage of the incident naming the parties but left the identities out.
The poor kid. i'm an old E.R. nurse and i can tell you basilar skull fractures are at the least serious and at the most commonly lethal... high velocity blunt force trauma potentially tearing carotid artery injury, (hemorrhage) cerebrospinal canal rupture (cerebrospinal fluid leakage) and cervical fracture, (often impinging if not fully severing the spinal cord at the base of the skull where respiration and heart beat are controlled).Steve Swan

I saw the LaSalle Horse campaign automobile at a Car show years ago. I wonder where the Henderson Horse rig went to?
