 Here's a couple of bikes modified so riders could control them from the side car. The second one shows how a one armed and totally legless man still made a living in Southern California in 1925. That's perseverance!

 Wheels Through Time has a factory built version from 1916. It has a remote mounted kick starter in the side car, although I doubt it would work for this gentleman.
