I've seen that picture of Pancho Villa, with the Hendee Special; and the reference to Stan Laurel in the bowler hat. I don't believe it is Stan Laurel, and I think that man only has a passing similarity to Laurel. There is a second picture of that event. Very similar but the man in the bowler is more visable, with his head up, and people in different places. You can see that second picture in Harry Sucher's "The Iron Redskin" on page 76.Eric Smith

The text I have that goes with the picture in post #1591 says it's the Fairbury Illinois Motorcycle Club circa 1940. Looks like Fairbury isn't too far away from Peoria. Fairbury wasn't exactly "local", but they had a chopper shop in the late '70s, and I remember seeing my first Indian Four on the floor.
Aside from being the butt of vaudeville jokes, Peoria was premiere for generations for the distilling industry, and oh yeah gambling and prostitution. Capone gave out candy to kids downtown, when he wasn't duck hunting.
But the Peoria TTs define its motorcycling history no doubt...

I think you're right. In fact, I think it may have been 1941. At least according to some pictures I have that say they're from 1941. Pretty sure that's him in the middle, and the info attached to the picture says it's Jimmy Chan on his left and Steve Chan on his right.Originally posted by T. Cotten View Post
