I'm confused. I understand that pacers were made for bicycle racers to draft behind & the pacer rider would sit bolt upright towards the back of the machine to create more draft for the bicyclist. -but why does this one has an engine plus pedals for both riders?
It seems like the use of pacers was short lived & motorcycle racing began when folks discovered that it was more fun to race the pacers & leave bicycles out of it completely.

Don't think I ever saw that before. Overhead valve, 90* v-twin, perfect primary balance, battery ignition? and all in 1906. Pretty impressive. Can't really see the exhaust. Maybe through the frame? Nice little dent in the gas tank from the handlebar. Total loss oiling system?
