These Gals have the right idea and some cool bikes.

I've always loved this picture, for a number of reasons. The bike is a full electric 1916 H-D, the lighting, and setting of the picture is nice, and despite the frumpy clothing, the girl is cute.

The motorcycle is a 1916 H-D full electric model, and you'll notice the front spark plug has been removed. Carbide lights were more of a pioneer era accessory and were quickly replaced by Prestolite pressurized acetylene tanks as that system was cleaner, and safer. The attached picture is of a 1911 Flying Merkel that has the early carbide water drip tank. Love the motorcycle, and the girl.

My suggestion is that the picture was taken as material for an advertisement for whatever the container in her right hand is pouring into the cap of the container in her left hand. The scan is not good enough to read the label on the container. Perhaps, in view of the front cylinder having had the spark plug removed, the product in the container is some kind of upper cylinder and valve lubricant which would be added into the combustion chamber?
