These pictures belong to a friend of mine. The lady is Marie Wittman and she married the brother of my friends' grandfather. The guy is Steve Wittman, older brother of Marie and is the guy after whom Wittman Field in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is named. Wittman Field is famous for being the home of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Museum and hosts the worlds largest aircraft get-together every year.
My friend was hoping somebody could peg the years of the Harleys in the pictures. It is believed that the single that Steve is sitting on was the one that he robbed the motor out of to build his first airplane. He found out the hard way that it did not have enough power to get his airplane off of the ground. Family lore has it that he crashed it into the fence at the end of his Dad's farm on his first try.
The pictures were probably taken around the south Fond du Lac, Wisconsin area. Probably the Byron/Hamilton area where the family farm was.
