I am building a late 46 EL. Would skyway blue be the correct color for it? Thanks!

The original 1946 Models were available in Gray or Flight Red. Later in the season Skyway Blue was offered and Gray was dropped.

According to Palmer's book, Gray, Red, Flight Red, Skyway Blue and Police Silver were the options depending on the order blank issue. Based on what is shown in Chris' order blank, that one is the second issue F-404-46A which you can barely make out in the upper left corner. Actually, you can't make it out unless you know what it is supposed to say. The last three digits are clearly 46A.

Palmer mentions that Gray and Red were eliminated with the issuance of that 2nd order blank.

He also notes that Black was later available based on late '46 models that are known to exist and be original paint. This could explain the "any color" note typed on the order blank Chris has provided. I would think that June would be late in the year to order a bike for that model year.

The "Any Color" was added by the dealer meaning he would take anything he could get.
