  • Forum category for accessories

I'm a newbie, and as you all know, newbies always have new ideas. I know this could get out of hand and we could have way too many sub-categories. But I was thinking that a sub-category for discussions could be Accessories. With all the stuff that is generic to many bikes and spans various families like knucks and pans, wouldn't a single place to talk about leather care, specific accessory configs, be appropriate. Now some of it seems to reside in Custom Tools and the rest in the FH, KH, PH and SH categories. I would think that a larger group of folks would profit from having one place to discuss accessories.

    Thanks for listenin'.
    Regards,

I think that's a good idea. I have always been confused by accessories and escpecially period aftermarket, i.,e. Superior, Buco, and Dixie. It would be great if knowledgeable people would educate the un-informed on what is what.

I have quite a collection of H-D Accessory catalogues. My earliest is 1919 and I have almost every one since then. I am missing maybe 10. Many years had two catalogues a year. Spring & Summer and Fall & Winter.

Still love to see Accessories turn into it's own catagory. There was an interesting post about aftermarket tombstone speedos that was very enlightening and would have been perfect for this catagory. Vendors like Paquette could dispense volumes on seat and saddlebags. Chris Haynes has tons of knowledge and documents on this stuff. I have junk laying around that I would love to know more about. Aftermarket stuff that was someone's genius idea, but lost to time. I know there are people out there that could tell us about the origin and function of that weird stuff that we have in some deeply buried cardboard box.

                        Say flat-happy......
Just a thought with your camera, here's what I do--- I remove the memory card from the camera, and use a card-reader device that plugs directly into a USB port in the front of my computer. Windows picks it up as a separate drive and opens a dialog box from which you can choose to open the folder and view the pictures, or copy them to a file on your computer hard drive, and other choices. The card reader I use is a little device like a 'thumb drive', costs about 10 bucks at an office supply store, or a computer store. I never use those dang cords or docking stations, and it's so much easier.

I am using that setup on my Knuck bobber that is under construction. It was sold by all the leading aftermarket companies back in the day.
