Back on the forum

That was a miserable 4 or 5 days of no forum activity, but I'm sure it was a lot worse for Mike Love who had to deal with it.

I do have one suggestion; perhaps when there is a problem with the forum, there could be a short message posted on the AMCA main site that (might) placate the (easily excitable) forum members (like me).

When I seen THIS...I knew there was BIG Trouble!!! Years ago, that was a Japanese Virus. Congratulation to Mike Love for getting it up again.
Eric, there was a notice that the AMCA Forum was down for software updates, but it was late and short lived.

Hey JoJo, I got the same octopus page once when I tried to log in... Spooky!

Yes, that was a tough couple of days with no AMCA forum (one of those 'easily exitable' members Eric was referring to). I thought for sure someone would have posted some news on the main AMCA website but found nothing.

I did use the 'Contact Us' feature and got in touch with Mike Love. Super helpful and friendly response from Mike... Thank you!! (I was placated!)

You would think that by now I wouldn't immediately think I might have a computer/browser cache/internet files problem.
Glad I didn't get the Octopus. That would have been too much for my nerves. I didn't use the 'Contact US' feature like droptop. Didn't even think of it. All I saw for days was "Forbidden". Might as well been "Verboten".
But after 4 or 5 days with no notice either by e-mail or on the AMCA site, and switching browsers and all the other fun stuff, I went back to AMCA.com and saw the notice.
What a relief to be back with all of you.

I can't believe how much I missed our AMCA forum, and after reading everyone's comments, I know I am not alone and deeply appreciate that Mike Love keeps this engine running.

Also, I have to say that I am very disappointed in the lack of participation by our vast AMCA community that doesn't choose to be here. When my AMCA friends bitch about our club politics and all the things they don't like about the AMCA I often have to hold my tongue because I know they would be lost without this miniscule world that they would miss.to the depths of their souls (pretty dramatic comment, eh) I'm laughing, but as The Byrds said in their song: "You Don't Miss Your Water, Until Your Well Runs Dry". That's the actual title by the original writer, William Bell.

I had all the above experience's as well. It's pretty sad that people hack things. I'm glad it got taken care of and hopefully there won't be any long term damage from it.

When I tipped Mike off about the TAKO group, he was super friendly and helpful, said he would get the tech guys working right away. I was afraid Russian hackers would have infected my computer, but my antivirus doesn't show anything malicious happened.
