  • Milwaukee Motordrome

So I have been helping to get my Father's things in order. While making piles, we came across an envelope with a few old pictures in it. My Father -not a motorcycle guy- mentions that his Father would talk about watching the motorcycle races when he was young. I let that sit in my mind for a few weeks. This weekend I blew some time at the HD Museum and came across this flyer (I have walked past it many times) A trip down to the Milwaukee Public Library verified he lived three blocks away from the short lived track.

Motorcycle racing at the Milwaukee Motordrome was very short lived opening on July 5 1913 and the final motorcycle race scheduled for August 16 1914. I don't have a race report for the ending Aug 16th date and there was some rain that day so I don't know if they got that race in or not. In October 1915 it was reported that the track was to be razed immediately and the lumber sold. That track had sat idle in 1915.

In your group photo above I assume one of the figures is your grandfather?
