  • Harley fender light?

I found this light in with my fathers stash and it had a tag on it with Harley and a ? mark. So can any of you Harley experts educate me, is this Harley or something else?

      So it is Harley then.

      Thank you for the info.

Dear Joe, double check as the 1934 Harley item is a one-year part, and I have seen numerous car sidelights purporting to be the same piece. It does look nice though.

          Steve,
How should I “double check “? What am I looking for?

            Three parts books I have; 1926 through 1937, 1926 through 1939, and 1930 through 1940 list it as 13400-34 Chrome plated cover, 5 1/2" long 1934
I think that part number is for the complete light assembly. They show a small picture that looks like it has the glass lens installed. Also they list the lens, gasket, and screws separately. No mention of the base being sold separately. In 1935 they lengthened it to 7 1/2 inches , 13400-35. Also offered was 13400-35A which had a round red lens on top that was used on sidecar fenders.

Joe, Steve is correct about cars having fender lights . I had one that was similar to the 1934 Harley but was wider and had three "windows" Was told it was off a Pontiac. Another one I had was very similar to the later Harley one but was longer and had a small "window" on top that light would shine through. Was told it was from a Buick. I'm sure there were more,

Well, it went to a new owner at Wauseon…several people looked at it and they each told me it was one year only 34 VL.
                I hope he was right.

Now that I know what the light is I spotted one at the Hershey car show….

Got it cleaned up, got the corrosion of the electric fittings, new bulb, and it works….

The front mounting stud is broke off too short, I might repair it or leave it for the next owner. It’ll be on my table at Oley….
