  • Indian 841 Oil Pump

    Hi Folks!

Tony Greenfield here and I own a 841 Indian with oil pump problems. I
would love it if someone could please help me to locate either:

    1) A NOS Oil Pump
    2) A Set of NOS Return Gears
    3) A Used Oil Pump in Good Condition

Any and all advice and assistance will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

    Thank you.

    pls define -problems......
No. 2 would be my starting point. and NOS wouldn't be a concern as long as they mesh and were made w/ the correct close tollerance. Made at same time. Just my 2cents.

Wilson Plank at American Indian Specialists in Fullerton CA has my oil pump (mated to the cam cover) and has tested it. He tells me that the "Feed" side of the pump is fully functional. The return gears are not functioning properly. He has located gears that are: 1) taller [not a problem since he can mill them to the proper thickness] 2) center hole is smaller [ again, not a problem since he can enlarge these] 3) One of the gears requires a keway cut into it [Wilson has a 'broach' to do this job.

Here's the problem: the center points between the two gears when meshed is too far apart.

Wilson told me to do my best to locate NOS gears.

      More advice please???

      -Tony

You have talked to all the majors - w/ a no go? People have made these things in the past on mass(20sets). It's an interesting process. I've seen some beauties. You need that full squish in my opion(pressure). Which again, doesn't count for much....

Put an advert in the zine. ?

Would you happen have a contact person (name/number, etc.) who has had gears made?

          Thanks! -Tony
