Dear All, period photos show later 1930s California Highway Patrol bikes fitted with a vertical axis cylinder at the right rear of the luggage rack. Apparently this was an aluminum first aid box which did not last well. Anybody got one new old stock? If I have to make it in steel from photographs, does anyone else need one? Best regards.

Steve,
Got a picture?
I believe that these are CHP bikes coming down the line.

Nice picture Chris, thanks. They look like 1934s. I understand for 1935/6 the CHP bikes did not have the Harley rear right tool box because it interfered with the CA-made Hedberg siren mounted on the right (unlike the regular Sterling siren mounted on the left). I could sure use one of these too. Plus what front tool box CHP used in 1935/6 which looks like the 1934 VL front tool box on steroids, big enough to have a shelf in it. Same question I guess - does anyone have one of these 'vanity project' items, or is anyone interested if I make a small batch from photographs? Best regards.

I have one of the over-sized toolbox/horn mounts for a CHP Knucklehead. They also used dual Cycleray headlamps. Note that the lamp with the red lens in it also had a flasher mounted inside the lamp. If you look carefully at the photo you can barely make out the countersunk screws that hold the flasher in place. I scored a Hedburg siren on eBay a couple years ago. Sadly it has a mount for an Indian so I am looking for an H-D mount. There was another Hedburg on eBay a couple weeks ago.
