  • Model D parts needed

Hi, I need parts for my 1929 era gearbox. It's stripped a gear so does anyone have parts for this box.
Anything from a complete one to bits. Nor sure exactly which box it is because the bike itself is registered 1930.
I'll ask the bloke fixing it to let me know which one it is.
    Would a later box fit?
    Many thanks.

How are you making out with your gearbox bits?
I do have some spares that don't look too flash but they would work at a pinch.
To really help it would be nice to know exactly what parts you need.
If it helps I can photograph what I have and maybe you can work from there.

Hi Tommo, thanks for your reply.
Hopefully you can see in the photos the damage done.

Any parts would be most helpful as I like to ride the bike not have it in pieces.

Is the cluster gear and the sliding gear the only bits that are damaged or are there other damaged bits.
You would be very lucky if one or other of the shafts are not bent with that sort of damage.
        Have you checked them?
These gearboxes are really too light for a twin and care must be exercised when using them

I've asked Steve (AMCA man) who lives in Folkestone who has stripped the box and he says I should need only the counter shaft and slider. He reckons the shafts are ok.

ps. He tells me you come recommended!

Well I said they wouldn't be pretty but with careful use they would do a turn.
This is all I've got as far as the sliding gear goes and the cluster is the best of 4 that I have.
Have a look at the photos and see what you think DSCF4408.JPGDSCF4409.JPG

Hi, thanks for sending the pix which I've shown to Steve who reckons he can work with them.

That just leaves me to buy them from you and await their arrival.

              How much would you like?

I do appreciate this quick resolution to the damaged box.

              Thanks again.

                Chris,
P.M. me an address to mail them to and I'll get them on their way before the Xmas rush.
If you are happy to pay whatever it costs me for post and packaging that'll do me.
                The bits are yours,gratis.
