  • WTB. 1965 FLH Perches and Levers

I am looking for perches and levers for my 65 FLH. I missed out on three meets this year due to Covid-19 cancellations.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

What do they look like for a 1965? Straight or curved?

Hi Tony, unfortunately I'm new to the correct 65' parts. I do know that the 65' model did not have holes for the mirrors since they were clamped to the handlebars. I have to look at my parts book when I get home from work.

      Thanks!

I found a copy of the parts book. the levers for 65' are straight. Please see part number 37 in the attachment.

            Hi Tony,

Yeah, I see holes for mirrors. Numbers 2,3, 5, 6 and 8 would be perfect but have the holes.
Let me see what mine look like and if yours are better, I'll be in touch.
            Thanks!

              Just wondering, Folks..

What models had a cast boss where the mirror stem hole was later drilled, and what models had a tapered mirror stem hole; Parking brake?

(I could always plug any hole, but not if its "special"!)

              Thanks in advance,

              ...Cotten

Cotton, Not sure about you question but I might take your suggestion about plugging the mirror hole if I can't find the correct levers/perches.

The trouble with a plugged hole, Craig,..

                    You are right Cotton.

Maybe I will keep searching. Too bad I missed a few AMCA meets already this year due to cancellation from Covid-19.

You can buy one of mine, Craig!

                      They are available!

(But you must want the rest of the machine as well. One's got a hack perched on it.)

Thanks for the offer Cotten but no more bikes to be added to my stable for a while. My 65' is only 2 years old to me and trying to rectify lots of wrong stuff done to her over the years. Never understood why someone would change out the perches and levers in the first place as well as the primary cover, oil tank and a few other odds and ends.

Craig, I am pretty sure I have the correct lower tree and the correct levers without holes. The trouble is that I cannot get to them just yet bc my leg keeps falling off trying to climb the later in the barn, I need a new leg.
I have a complete set of 65 bars with the components still on them. I will keep trying, but cannot make any promises just yet. Oh, I think the handles have blue plastic finger grips on them, like an old Scwinn bicycle.

Craig, I was able to grab the handles and the triple tree today. The lower tree side nachelle holes are drilled one size up, but can still be helicoiled or except a thread insert. The levers mounts look a little different than what is pictured, but do not have mirror holes. Not sure if they are correct or not, but come off a parted out 1965 flh. The guy put the motor in a chopped knuckle frame and build a chopper, sad.
