Reason for sale – to fund restoring a 1953 Indian Chief.
As a result, the 48 has a new exhaust, new tires and new air breather.
I have owned the bike for at least 15 years, fully restored and rebuilt the engine, updating the clutch and brakes.
Many trips of 100+ miles. The motor typically starts, 1st or 2nd kick after priming. The electrics have been upgraded to 12 volt. The bike has a cycle electric 12 volt generator with a built in electronic regulator and rectifier. The original 6 volt generator is included.
The bike comes with a 2 person “Chumee” seat and appropriate spring system. The bike is set up for right hand throttle, left hand shift which is easily modified to left hand throttle, right hand shift, as both were available from the factory. All sheet metal is correct for a 1948, the colour is Indian “seafoam blue” and all trim and tank insignia are correct. The dash and speedo are proper and functional for the 48. The bike has a correct Indian luggage rack.
