    1. Make your own copper soft jaws. A 2'' dia., "L" (thick) copper tube. Pre-split, U-pound, pattern, then cut in vise w/ hacksaw. Pattern & instructions included. Specify whether 4' or 6'' vise jaw. (precision alumn. jaws are sold through MSC http://www.mscdirect.com/ @ $24.60 a set). Includes world-wide shipping (ground).. $23.00 or, if you can find a plmb. shop that stocks 2" Type 'L" rigid copper, and will pipe-cutter you off a foot, then make up a set. Eastwood used to sell a copper set for $75.00 V-Twin used to sell soft jaws. Now they're not so easy to find.
    MSC Industrial Supply (800) 645-7270). Their free, ('98-99) paper or CD catalog has 4,459 pgs. with index-tab pages (that un-package as fold-outs). It's a Cadillac. They have a tech phone line and sell: Drills, Files, Reamers, Taps, Dies, Saws & End Mills, Carbide Inserts & Indexable Tooling, Abrasives, Hand/Power Tools, Paints-Adhesives-Lubes, Machinery & Accessories, Flat Stock, Drill Rod & Raw Material, Safety Welding, etc. One catalog will last you at least 4 yrs.
