    Some argue the Evo was the "best running engine Harley ever built." Does seem bulletproof, compared to the structural-plastic, planned-obsolescence snack cake that replaced it.

      I agree Gerry. I had a bunch of Evo's, from 1984 up to 1999. Never had any major problems with any one of those 1st generation Motors. My 1990 FLSTF(Fat Boy), had 160K before it was stolen, and it still ran like a little stinker. The Germans had a lot to do with the initial inception of the Evo, when it was a water-cooled prototype.
