  • Unique 1964 BMW R60/2

IMG_3223.jpeg IMG_3225.jpeg IMG_3222.jpeg The good stuff ! RARE , POLICE SPEC 12 VOLT ELECTRICS FROM NEW ! Also rare is the like new "Avonaire" full fairing and the factory BMW tachometer. Bike runs great and has triple matching numbers and all original paint. Recent work includes new Metzler tires, new Buchanans stainless spokes, new wheel bearings . Original tools and manuals and letter from BMW German archives verifying provenance. Ontario ownership in my name. New solo seat and luggage rack on the bike but also included is the original dual seat in excellent shape. Original "rare "Enduro" saddlebags with original key. Bike also has all original keys including the fork lock. New stainless side stand and tail light protector. The bad stuff ! Tank has some internal rust and I can not guarantee that the indicated mileage is correct as it seems awfully low ! I know that the bike has sat unused for many decades so it may be correct! Please no low ball offers Asking $25000 Canadian IMG_3217.jpeg

      Howdy Barry,

Sure u recall the days, least in the US when trinkets like that killer tach (most valued accessory on my R69S as its pesky motor must operate in specific rev range to produce any real power) spotlight mirrors, police spec 12 v, and especially Hoskie tank variations were more valuable than an R50/2. I bought an ex Swiss police R50 with LS 200 and it had the complete police kit with the side by side 6 volt batteries in series on the wide tray. It also had a special kicker arm cast with a bend in it to clear that tray. Got it in the attic here somewhere, will post a pic later.
      Cheerio,

Priceless stuff ! Of course I am referring to the "Golf Car Oil". LOL M y R60 also has that special convoluted kicker arm. Rather than running two 6 volt batteries I made up a "dummy" aluminum case to fill up the battery tray

Alluring 'Black met White' Barry. *Never seen a tail light trim/guard like that before.

Thanks . As Peter stated there was a surprising number of options and period accessories available for these "slash 2" Beemers ( 1955-1969) including a trim guard for the headlight as well shown here on a friend's R50 outfit. I like the look of the Avonaire fairing but my first ride has reinforced my dislike of fairings and even windshields and was the main motivation for offering it for sale ! I now have the gas tank filled with vinegar . I have no faith in my ability to install a 100% effective liner so will just get rid of as much rust as possible and use filters. IMG_2990.jpg
