Vintage Racer from Des Moines Iowa passed Friday at Davenport. Son of legendary Indian Motorcycle enthusiast Paul George who with his family ran the Davenport races for many years.I knew Paul 1st & then met his sons Matt & Kelly when I picked up a friends XR750 that he bought from Kelly.... I first met Matt at the AMCA Wauseon races when Promoter Scotty Brown used to run the show. Matt helped Scotty, and Scotty would travel to Davenport and help the George Brothers promote their race program during the Chief Blackhawk Swap. Both events were a Class A act, mainly because of the dedication and love of racing both Matt & Scotty shared. Matt loved running that H-D XR in the Vintage Twin class. And, he made some dandy fine race 'MAX' leathers also. Matt did the Red White & Blue leathers Bubba Blackwell wore on the Tonight Show when Jay Leno interviewed him. I heard he crashed into the wall at Davenport this past 2025 event. I'm not completely sure, but there was no word that it had anything to do with his demise? But, i heard his current health was becoming an issue.
Matt will be missed dearly.
