  • Dave 'Huggy Bear' Hansen

    Reported with regret...

Don't know if he was a member, but certainly an asset to the industry.

I had the pleasure of doing business with him, and talking on the phone.

    Rest In Peace,

Dave was super nice to me when I visited him in Ventura many moons ago.

Back in the 80's I enjoyed meeting Dave at a California swap meet. In the early days of the formation of "The Laughing Indian Riders" based in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, Dave was a supporter and I am glad I won the summer jacket from The Shop that he donated for our fund raising raffle. It has The Shop logo on front and the feathered Indian head gas tank design across the back. I still wear it and think of his big friendly grin when I do. Rest in Peace, 'Huggy Bear'.

I am saddened to hear of Davids' passing, he was a great friend for the 50+ years I knew him. I first met him when he opened The Shop on Fix Way, a little side street a block or two behind the old H-D dealership in Ventura in 1972 or so. He was the real deal and put on countless swap meets, motorcycle races, Chopper Fest and more at the Ventura County Fairgrounds right there on the beach in Ventura. Everyone knew him and respected him. He helped me with a 50 Pan I built up during Covid lockdown and it helped keep both of us sane during that time when business was slow and there was nowhere to go. I remember he asked Sugar Bear when he was going to retire once and Sugar said, "when I die". Rest in Peace Huggy.
