Died August 20th 2017. Founder of the Motorcycle Cannonball Run. Words do not adequately tell this story. Had the privilege of meeting Lonnie right before the start of the 2010 Cannonball and also on the 2012 and 2014 Runs. Rest in Peace Lonnie. For a very quiet and reserved guy you sure made a big roar that will be heard as long as people remember motorcycles.

So sad when a young man dies too soon. My wife battled cancer this year and it is a frightening, unpredictable foe. Lonnie helped me a lot with the Js I've had, as well has my Merkel. He was passionate about old bikes and really knew his stuff. There's going to be a big void in this hobby of ours. God bless him, and my deepest condolences to his family, and many friends.

Lonnie Jr. was a really good man. Got to know him well traveling to Kitty Hawk with him in the chase truck and trailer, with my Knucktruck and his BMW loaded up. A pleasure to work with even through the trials and tribulations of that first Cannonball. A very calm and cool fella, always a pleasure to be around.

Tragic news. I was glad to call him a friend. He stayed with me up in Canada many years ago and picked up a powerplus and sidecar and made a killer WW1 machine gun unit. We drank some beer and he told me about a dream he had about organizing a road run across America for bikes 1915 and earlier. Many dream, but few can make it a reality. Classy guy and man did he know early bikes. The world of old motorcycles has lost a true champion at a young age. My family and I would like to express our deepest sympathies to his Mom and Dad.

RIP Lonnie, Jr. My thoughts are with his loved ones and friends. Were it not for Isam's Comp.D., i would have had much difficulty finishing my 27JD. The Isam's have helped alot of folks get their motors running down the road.
