Are there substitutes for the original cartridges for Duo-Glide and Electra-Glide shocks? Mine have collapsed to the point where the curved washers that go either side of the rubber sleeves will not clear the shock body on the lower shock stud.
I wanted to delete this post but couldn't figure out how. I had the shocks apart last year, cleaned up the insides and coated everything with a little grease. When I reassembled, I inverted the lower retainer that rests against the bottom shock cartridge loop. I'll take full stupidity responsibility for that move, but in my defense, neither my '58-'68 or my '61-'76 manuals show or list the part on the page with the schematic pics of the shocks. I did find a '61-'76 manual on the Panhead and Flathead site that pictures the part. It's part #36, but there's no description. Anyway, this is just a caveat and an apology for wasting anyone's time
