Can the primary oil supply hole (tube) be plugged on a '65-'67 pump so the primary adjusting screw will meter and work on a '62 with tin primary?
My '62 with late year pump (larger idler shaft) got destroyed over the weekend when the front intake tappet decided to spit the roller bearings out. I have a '65-'67 pump. Bruce 2nd addition says use of pre '65 cover will work by blocking the tube hole on the '65-'67 pump, 3rd edition says the adjusting screw won't work. ('The former chain oiler adjusting screw can no longer adjust the primary oiler flow nor shut it off').
Comparing the 2 pumps, it appears the tube could be removed and a plug made reverting it back to the adjusting screw metering and routing the oil to the tins as before. Does anyone have experience with this? I would also buy a correct pump or body if anyone has one. Thanks.
