I am looking to buy a 1960 or 1962 Panhead, I want to expand my search from just California bikes to other states. I am worried about bringing a bike to California because I don't want the bike "blue tagged" in California. Blue tagging is adding a CA vin to the frame of the bike as well as using the Harley motor number as the vin. This seems to damage the value of the bike and marries the frame to the motor for registration purposes.
Has anyone specific information about CA DMV procedure in this area? I would love some insight here and look forward to chasing down that first antique.
