DSC_0742.JPG DSC_0743.JPG Yes early Softails are over 35. This is about parts & service manuals that don't match that actual bikes made. A friend has two 1988 FXST Softails. The inner primary starter pivot mounting is different than shown in the books. The books show the pivot has the screw from the top of the primary. His both have a set screw in the top & a pin with a screw holding it. No problem because he has the part but there is no part number or replacement if he didn't. The inner primary is obsolete for these years with nobody making replacements. You have to change to later parts if you don't have a usable primary.
