pedal Assemblies

I have just disassembled the pedal assembly for my 1914 Thor. It looks that the shaft through the frame is supported by a bearing on the left side and a possibly white metal bush on the right side. There is also a bush pressed into the left side, inboard of the rollers. Does this sound right (it sure looks it). Is the roller there to set end play? The pedals should be only to start the engine I think.
Any wisdom would be helpful.
