Clyde, What color did you rub that with? Are you the Clyed from the Toledeo area?

Gerry, It might be worth a try to contact the New Jersey BMV with your request. They need the cash. You never know, if the right girl answerers the phone, you might get lucky enough that you could have a real one at a one time cost.

Eye suspect Homer was rubbing it with more than "some paint." Nice restoration, though! Or "replication."
I'd like to find someone who could make a 3 1/2" X 8" New Jersey plate, as shown in my avatar. Best I found so far was a flat "movie plate," that only simulates the embossing, and no holes, drill them yourself.

I took this rusty old sidecar plate, and rubbed it down with some paint. can't even see the rust now

I agree with the wax. I use Meguires Gold Class on old tags.

I have a 1945 Mich plate for my UL resto. I would consider the plate to be a 6 out of 10, maybe. My hope is to keep it from getting worse.
Any suggestions on what I can do to keep it the way it is now. Clear coat, wax, etc.
