I am glad this was brought up. Years ago I tried a Halogen bulb on a 12v system with a stock HD generator. The 12v was on a Pan with a Franks volt pak regulator, (which I have ran on that bike and now on a 69 Shovel since 1989 with never a charging failure) using non Halogen headlight bulbs. Anyway, when I tried the Halogen sealed beam I burnt up my generator armature. Have been afraid to try it again ever since. Does anyone have experience running these bulbs with a stock generator? Could it have been just an odd occurance or something I did wrong? Didn't change anything but the bulb, fried the armature, changed back to non-Halogen and never a problem since. Any thoughts? Bob

an do you think the stock generator is going to charge with the draw of a halogen ????

You can buy a new reflector that holds a Halogen bulb. Much more light. Custom Chrome has them.

6v Sealed Beam Headlight for 6.5 in. dia. Cycle Ray Bucket?
I looked through the posts and didn't find an solution to my problem. 'Hope I didn't miss one that's already there.
Is there a 6 volt sealed beam light that'll fit in the 6 and a half inch Cycle Ray Bucket?
I'm getting old and so is the knucklehead and between the two of us it's getting harder to see at night, running the original "pre-focused" bulb in the old reflector.Tags: None
