Master Link Press

Here's an easy one. I was installing a new O-ring chain on my FLH and realized that I really needed a tool to press the plate onto the master link. Problem was, nobody local had one. I dug through my junk pile and came up with a piece of 1/4" thick aluminum. I sawed off a piece about 1-1/4" long and 1/2" wide. I then drilled two 1/4" holes in it 5/8" apart (center to center). I was then able to loosely assemble the master link, lay the piece of aluminum over it with the holes over the pins and use a common c-clamp to press the side plate on. Worked really slick. By the way, the first number in a chain's size is the pitch, or distance between pins, in 1/8" increments. A 530 chain has a 5/8"pitch, a 420 chain has a 1/2" pitch, etc.
