I've always been under the impression that Harley-Davidson never released any 2-Cam engine equipped bikes to the public before the 1928 model year, but that 2-Cams were ONLY made for racing purposes before that time.
But is that true?
Reading from the November, 1927 issue of the Enthusiast (p.3), I found the following quote after a brief discussion of racing 2-Cams: "Then there are the fellows who have been fortunate enough to get a 2-cam just for 'rollin' purposes. These fellows always lead the parade -- 'way out front too. But 2-cam jobs were scarce and consequently expensive because we did not make many of them at any one time."
That sounds as if you COULD get a road job 2-Cam from Harley before 1928 if you begged them long enough and paid the extra cost.
Any other thoughts or knowledge about this?
