That's so cool that it was in your possession for a while Rich. I hope it's still hard at work cranking out machined parts. I'm betting that picture was taken at the original 508 J Street location, and was the back of the store. I think this is the front:

And I'm betting this is that same lathe on the left of the picture at the 815 12th Street location. I think it's the same legs (you tell me, Rich), and it looks like it's still being belt driven along with the other shop tools.

Wow Eric! That's it. It was later converted to an electric motor and Studebaker transmission on an angle iron frame but still belt drive from the motor. I'd know those legs anywhere. Cool beans!

I used it for a couple of years but it was to big for my "T" street garage so it went to a young man in Redding who just got out of a gunsmithing school. He was tickled pink. It came with all kinds of tooling to bore blind "J" cylinders etc. Very cool! It just dripped history.

I went through the photos and found a few more around the dealership. We'll start with one from just before the dealership became his. Enjoy!

Thanks Badger, those are great additions to the Magri story. I appreciate you posting them for us. Now here are some pictures of Armando's dealership in Sacramento. When he started out in 1950 he took over the building at 815 12th street in Sacramento. In the spring of 1973 he completed construction on a new building at 1000 Arden Way and moved in. That building still stands as Sacramento Harley Davidson today, and some of Armando's old bike collection can still be seen on display there. (At least it could last time I was in the dealership. Hopefully that hasn't changed).

Evelyn Majors and Armando Magri, Santa Cruz, 1930s.jpg
Evelyn Majors was Armando's girlfriend for a short time. Here he is with her at her folks' place in Santa Cruz, quite a ride from Chico. "Her parents thought she was too good for Armando," Lu once told Ken. It explains why this is the most dressed up Ken had ever seen his dad in this era. She must have come from some affluence, or at least more than Armando.
