This is the second thing I have ever tried to sell on here. I looked on ebay and the cheapest you can buy this book for new is $190.00. On Amazon it starts at over $400. and goes to $900. I went with the ebay price as the Amazon prices are obviously crazy. I priced mine lower than ebay and thought that was a good price since these have sold for that for the last few years before the reprint.

What I dont understand is why out of over 300 views a select few have decided to make this a public lynching over the price. If you guys really cared about keeping things on here straight and fair while still allowing new members, which I am, a chance to learn and participate in this hobby you could have simply emailed or PM'd me with your concerns and explained the way things work around here. Instead you resort to childish name calling and intimidation which in turn probly made more new people reading this weary of posting anything on here. If I was a "Opportunistic, blood sucking, profiteer" then dont you think I would have bought more than two copies of this book to resale? Dont you think I would be PM'ing everyone on the sales forum with lowball prices for their stuff to resale? Wouldnt I be flooding the sales forum with a mass of over priced stuff? None of which I have done.

My earlier statement was ment to ask how you intend to keep the club going once you are all dead and gone if you dont give the new people showing interest in the hobby some guidence and help along the way as they learn the way things work instead of riping them up in a public forum?

I understand that there are people out there who live for nothing more than to screw the next guy out of a buck. I am not one of those guys. One of you mentioned I had made a name for myself. Well I see it more as you giving me a bad name by your comments when you could have helped me make a good name by telling me privetly what you thought was hurting me and I could have fixed it in the public forum.

I also understand with all the recent TV shows about old stuff and peoples interest growing in the subject that there are people out there taking advantage of others but why automatically assume every person who post something you dont agree with has bad intentions? By doing that you will probly case more harm to what you are trying to protect. At this point I just want to cancel my subscription and move on but I will not because I believe that the majority of people on here actually want to help people learn about and enjoy this hobby. I am a 13 year Army vet with very little free time to enjoy what I like so I am not going to let a few disgruntled people ruin this for me.

As reluctant as the near-sighted (may I say blind?) publishers of How to Restore seem to be to recognize that there is a much larger market for it than the few they occasionally reprint, and blind to the wisdom of keeping it continuously in print, the copyright will always be their domain, and they will republish it, ruining the nefarious hopes of usurious wannabe market-cornerers.

I wouldn't be too sure about that Gerry. It depends on the terms of the contract. Some contracts state that under certain conditions the rights can be returned to the author.

In other words, it's nuts to pay over-retail for this book. With today's publishing system, Motorbooks can order up another fifty thousand with a wire to their Asian printing plant, collaping the artificial market in a day.

And the health of the collegial AMCA does not depend upon providing hyper-profits to opportunistic blood-suckers to survive.

Is this how you get new members to continue renewing their memberships year after year? Sure makes me want to renew and keep the AMCA going.

You're going to hurt yourself more in the long run by trying to gouge people here by trying to make several hundred percent profit. I for one would sell a part to you at a higher price than I would someone else who didn't play the same game. Want to make a bundle....do it on E-Bay.
