  • Spark Plugs -1949 FL

I need advice and assistance on replacing the plugs on my '49 FL. Any recommendations on "heat ranges"? Illinois rider, temps. vary. Also, need to know what the gap setting is, can not locate in my Panhead Service Manual. Thanks for the help.

    Spark Plugs

The heat range is 3 to 4, 3 being the hotter one. Gap .025 to .030. I run Autolite plugs (4275 ) front & rear in my 56, and have had no problem. Have not had any luck with Champion.

I also live in Illinois and on my '55 Pan I use the Harley-Davidson spark plugs with the combined heat range 3-4, part number 32301-60, available at your Harley dealer. The owners manual says the gap should be .025-.030. These are a good plug for in town and on the highway.
