  • Index of Classic Bike & Classic M/C 79-94

I found this index looking for info on a 22 AJS. I was curious and emailed the creator Phil just to say hello. He has done a nice job. And this index may help someone find articles/info in a back issue Re: project info.

    Email returned from Phil below:

    Hi Paul,
I'm an engineer who plays at restoring old bikes, about 65 of them
since 1980. I started reading the magazines back then, and a few
years into it decided I needed help remembering where I saw articles.
So I began an index. It grew, and when the internet came along I
decided to post the current version, in case others were using their
    magazines as research tools.

I quit my subscription and sold my magazines when I thought I'd be
doing a cross-country move. Now the index is obsolete, and nobody
has volunteered to pick it up. Now and then I think of doing it
myself, but I'd have to track down the magazines I never bought, and
    there's lots on my plate.

I've read them all, probably several times, and have forgotten quite a bit...

I get notes from guys looking for articles, and while I used to scan
and send them, I can't anymore.

Last year I got a note from a computer, telling me that the index was
among the top 10 old bike sites, based on how many links pointed to
it. I decided to leave it up until I go 2 months without a note (I
did the move, and the server it's on is back east. Costs a little to
keep it there, but not much.) I guess I get two or three a week
still, so maybe a few people use it.

I may write a book someday from the correspondence I've had. Some
has been pretty funny. I laugh a lot.

OK, that's enough! Get back to work!

    Regards,
    Phil
