  • burning smell from generator

I noticed the other day after getting my ride up on the highway at around 60mph, after stopping the generator smelled like something was burning and a little smoke was coming out of it. any suggestions on what could be causing this, only happens after I'm up around 60 for awhile does this happen. generator still charging and idiot light never comes on. does not do this if I'm riding around the back roads

A fuse is burning: time to freshen up the generator, particularly the inboard oilseal.

thanks, how long would you think I have left on the generator.
hopefully it will make it through summer, bike coming apart this winter

Offhand, I would bet on an eminent failure any time now.

The only thing I know about electronics is that everything depends upon smoke. If the smoke gets out, it doesn't work anymore.
