  • Oil pump check valve seat.

I need to know a proven method for reseating the "ball seat" of the "check valve" on a 1976 flh with a stock oil pump. the pump was removed for rebuilding and then reinstalled with a new "ball".When the bike sit's for two to three weeks it pukes about a half quart of oil on the floor.

    Rick.

I recommend having someone who does repairs on pumps all the time. I highly recommend this fella. Paps

I have the same problem with a 61 XLCH. The mechanic I have used, says to place the ball in the seat, then use a moderate blow with a brass drift to re-seat the ball/seat. I tried this, and still have the same problem. I'll keep this URL for a reference.
      Thanks,
      Gary

Its a lot harder to properly dress a pump that has been whacked with a punch than one that is worn by service.

This is one circumstance where barnyard methods can really hurt.
