  • Indian 80 Timing

My Indian manual (which covers up to the '48 Chief says to put the piston 1/2" below TDC and the distributor drive slot is supposed to be perpendicular to the engine. Is this applicable to the "80" engines as well? I also found the timing mark on the flywheels, although it was a + not the $ that the manual mentions.

Kiwi shows 5/8 in. before tdc as the piston position for an 80 in. motor. Your flywheels should have both a timing mark ( $ ) and a tdc mark ( + ).
